JAPAN COAL FRONTIER ORGANIZATION (JCOAL) traces its history back to 1948, when its original organization Japan Coal Association was established. Later the association was merged with Coal Mining Research Center, Japan and Center for Coal Utilization, Japan and a couple of others in order to consolidate efforts for further development of the coal sector. The current JCOAL was established in 2005.
