1st Announcement The 35th Clean Coal Day International Symposium (2026) & The Energy Security with Decarbonization Symposium 2026

JCOAL is pleased to announce that the 35th Clean Coal Day International Symposium (2026) and the Energy Security with Decarbonization Symposium 2026 will be held on September 3 (Thursday) and September 4 (Friday), 2026, at Marubiru Hall & Conference Square, Tokyo. The events will be organized in a hybrid format, with in-person participation as the primary mode and online participation also available.

Clean Coal Day was established in 1991 by Japan's former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) as "Coal Day (Clean Coal Day)" on September 5 to promote a better understanding and appreciation of coal as an important energy resource throughout the entire supply chain, from upstream to downstream sectors.  Since the 1st Clean Coal Day Memorial Symposium was held in September 1992, the event has been organized annually, providing a platform for information exchange and discussion on coal, energy, and related technologies.

The symposium theme is as follows.

The 35th Clean Coal Day International Symposium:

Global Energy Situation and Efforts toward Realistic Decarbonization via CCUS

The Energy Security with Decarbonization Symposium 2026:

Contribution of Coal to the Stable Energy Supply

Like the last year, a follow-up meeting, the Post Conference Webinar (PCW), will be held in mid-November to further deepen discussions arising from the two international symposiums, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia.

As part of our efforts to strengthen post-conference outreach and information dissemination, JCOAL e-book 2026 will be published and distributed globally around February 2027.

The e-book will include summaries of the two international symposiums held in September and the follow-up webinar in November. In addition, it will serve as a platform for companies in Japan and abroad to showcase their initiatives toward achieving carbon neutrality (CN). We warmly invite contributions from participating companies and look forward to receiving your submissions.

Further details regarding the symposiums and participant registration will be available on the symposium website, which is scheduled to open in mid-July.

We look forward to welcoming your participation.
