JCOAL and The State of Wyoming, USA have signed Renewed MOU for Cooperation in Clean Coal and Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) Technologies

Japan Coal Frontier Organization (JCOAL) and The State of Wyoming have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote cooperation as well as research and development in coal trade, clean coal and CCUS technologies. The MOU is a renewal of the one which was signed between the two parties on July 25, 2016. The MOU was renewed with the two parties' confirmation on intention to continue the partnership and cooperation in technology development and other areas.
Under this MOU, the two parties aim to cooperate in the following areas.
(a) The promotion of technical cooperation: sharing technical expertise and information on clean coal and CCUS; and
(b) The facilitation of research and development: implementation of technology transfer and demonstration projects through consultancy services; and
(c) The development of networks for efficient communication and information exchange: forming collaborations and cooperation between the public and private entities through mutual communication; and
(d) The facilitation of coal exports and sales: considering existing terminal projects including the Wyoming coal exports; and
(e) Other mutually beneficial activities

In addition, based on the previous MOU, JCOAL, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI) and the State of Wyoming signed an MOU on May 29, 2020 to conduct a demonstration test of carbon dioxide separation and capture technology using solid absorbents at the Integrated Test Center (ITC) adjacent to the Dry Fork Power Station in Wyoming.
