Coal is one of the important energy resources comprising the best energy mix and
coal generates about one fourth of Japan’s electricity. Coal is also utilized as a
precious material of steel making.
To ensure a stable supply and sustainable
utilization of coal, we need to make efforts to meet the increasing coal demand in
the Asia-Pacific region and to ensure the harmonization with the environment by,
for instance, controlling the global warming.
Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL) supports the development,
commercialization, transfer and dissemination of coal
technologies and the human resource development, in order to
ensure the international coal supply and the harmonization with
the environment.
JCOAL also carries out a variety of activities
to make coal even more effective resource or energy source
while enhancing its superior cost effectiveness and the stability
of supply, aimed at contributing to the stable energy supply and
the sound development of industrial economy in Japan. |
