| Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL)
has been engaged in various activities for promoting the use of coal
such as international cooperation and public relations, as well as
research and development of coal utilization technologies. As one
of its main activities, JCOAL has been developing technologies
for effectively using coal ash.
JCOAL has been conducting a nation-wide survey in Japan on coal
ash usage by enterprises in general industries, aiming to develop
and expand technologies for effectively using coal ash, as its production
is expected to increase in the future. This questionnaire survey
has been carried out with the support of the Coal Section, Natural
Resources and Fuel Department of the Agency for Natural Resources
and Energy, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and with
the assistance of companies. The figures for electric power utilities
were provided by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan
and the Japan Fly Ash Association. This document presents the results
of the survey and figures for general industries. JCOAL sincerely
thanks all the parties concerned for their invaluable assistance.
